Gwen Lawson, Defender, #8

A member of the Oak Ridge Lady Wildcat Family from 2005-2008, Gwen served as captain as a junior and senior. She wore the Wildcat kit for 96 games, starting out as a freshman sweeper and marking back, and ending her stellar career as a central defender in a flat four defense. That 2008 defense allowed a record low of 15 goals in 26 games for a team that finished the season 21-4-1 playing one of the toughest schedules ever. Lawson's ability to lead and organize while nurturing a defense that included 3 sophomores will forever be remembered. She did so with keen leadership and a smile. But more than
anything she led with a passion for the game, playing the entire final season with a torn ACL. Earning 96 caps, the Oak Ridge community remembers most that Gwen accomplished this despite three torn ACLs. Gwen completed her Wildcat career scoring 1 goal and handing out three assists. She was selected as the only Tennessee student athlete and one of eight defenders nationally for the NSCAA Academic All American Team.
