Welcome to the 16th Annual
Katie Hunter High School Soccer Tournament
Oak Ridge, TN
August 31-September 1, 2012

Welcome to Katie Hunter XVI. On behalf of Dr. Thomas Bailey, School Superintendent, Jody Goins, ORHS Principal, Coach Thomas Gorman, Athletic Director, Mike Mullins, Lady Wildcat Boosters and the family of Bruce Hunter, the Lady Wildcats welcome all teams to the Katie Hunter Tournament. Established in 1997 to honor the memory of Katie Hunter, it has become the premier high school tournament in the state. The Lady Wildcat family honors this former goalkeeper who was fatally injured on April 14, 1991, during a soccer game.

The event will have a great impact both economically and culturally in the "Secret City." We are very proud of your decision to be a part of this experience and hope that you visit the many establishments that support the Oak Ridge High School. We welcome you- the players, your families, the coaches and the outstanding officiating crews that will mentor us through the matches.

Good play is skillful play. People who enjoy soccer - whether talented players or appreciative spectators - recognize the skills that are brought to the field both by an individual and a team. Skillful, yet fair, play; good sportsmanship; determination; and a lifelong love of the game are the values that I hope we will see this weekend. From the player to the coach to the parent, sportsmanship is paramount and necessary to celebrate the greatest weekend of high school soccer.

The Lady Wildcat Booster Club has worked many hours preparing for the tournament. Please take time to greet them and thank them. They are all volunteers.
